CÔR CAERDYDD YN YMWELD Â’R FATICAN
Mae Côr Caerdydd yn prysur baratoi ar gyfer trip arbennig iawn yn fuan ar ôl y Pasg eleni.
Nôl ym mis Tachwedd 2024 cafodd y côr y fraint arbennig o gymryd rhan flaenllaw yng Ngŵyl
Carwyn James yn Rovigo, yng ngogledd yr Eidal. Yn ogystal, cafwyd cyfle amheuthun i berfformio
mewn offeren yn Padua. Yn dilyn ymateb gwresog gan yr Eidalwyr, gwahoddwyd y côr nol i’r wlad -
y tro hyn i ganu mewn offeren o fewn muriau’r Fatican, yn eglwys San Pedr.
Mae’r Fatican yn gorfod cymeradwyo’r repertoire ac ‘roedd Gwawr Owen, arweinydd y côr, yn
awyddus iawn i ganu darnau gan gyfansoddwyr o Gymru yn y gwasanaeth. Bellach mae’r côr wedi
cael caniatâd i ganu pedwar darn gan gyfansoddwyr o wlad y gân, a phob un yn gyfoes. Darnau gan
Syr Karl Jenkins, Paul Mealor, Robat Arwyn a chomisiwn newydd sbon danlli gan Geraint Owen.
Daw’r ddau ddarn arall gan Schubert a Vivaldi.
Yn ogystal, bydd y côr yn rhoi cyngerdd gyda chôr o Rufain, Coro Voxel yn un o eglwysi’r ddinas. Ac
eto, darnau gan gyfansoddwyr o Gymru fyddan nhw i gyd.
Mae edrych ymlaen mawr ymhlith aelodau’r côr wrth fynychu ymarferion ar gyfer trip mor gyffrous i
Rufain - ac wrth gwrs, bydd lot fawr o waith dysgu nodau a geiriau!

CÔR CAERDYDD VISITS THE VATICAN
Côr Caerdydd is busy preparing for a very special trip shortly after Easter this year.
Back in November 2024 the choir had the special privilege of taking a leading part in the Carwyn
James Festival in Rovigo, in northern Italy. In addition, there was a rare opportunity to perform at a
mass in Padua. Following a warm response from the Italians, the choir was invited back to the
country - this time to sing in a mass within the walls of the Vatican, in St Peter's church.
The Vatican has to approve the repertoire and Gwawr Owen, the leader of the choir, was very keen
to sing pieces by Welsh composers in the service. The choir has now been given permission to sing
four pieces by composers from the country of the song, and all are contemporary. Pieces by Sir Karl
Jenkins, Paul Mealor, Robat Arwyn and a brand new commission by Geraint Owen. The other two
pieces are from Schubert and Vivaldi.
In addition, the choir will give a concert with a choir from Rome, Coro Voxel in one of the city's
churches. And again, they will all be pieces by Welsh composers.
There is great anticipation among the choir members when attending rehearsals for such an exciting
trip to Rome - and of course, there will be a lot of work learning notes and words!
